The Greater Richmond Coalition for Healthy Children is pleased to announce the 2013 Healthy School Food Environment Grant program that will award up to $1,000 in grant funding to schools to encourage healthy food options  in the school food environment and to provide support to School Wellness Committees. Public and private schools that serve students in middle and high school in Richmond, Chesterfield County and Henrico County are encouraged to apply for funding to support before, during, and after school programs and activities.

“We are excited about this opportunity to support schools in their efforts to improve the health and wellness of their students by improving the school food environment,” said Mary Dunne Stewart, a member of the Greater Richmond Coalition for Healthy Children and the executive director of Greater Richmond Fit4Kids.

Applications must be submitted via e-mail by Friday, March 15th and must be approved by the school principal and the PTA president prior to submission.  Additional information about the grants and the application can be found here.
