What if you could make a difference in the lives of children by helping them establish healthy habits for life? What if you could make a difference while enjoying live music, food, prizes and other festivities? You can! Be a part of something bigger in the 2016 Make a Difference Day 5k in Manchester on Saturday, October 22nd!
Make a difference day is an annual event hosted by our dear friends at The Pediatric Connection, an organization that advocates for children with medical needs in order to promote the greatest possible quality of life! This year’s event will benefit Fit4Kids in our mission to address childhood obesity in the Greater Richmond community. The 5k race kicks-off at 11 am, and will be followed by a post-race party that includes food, music, a silent auction and more!
The Pediatric Connection’s Make a Difference Day 5k also serves as the official start of Fruit and Veggie Week at Richmond Public Schools!
Fruit and Veggie Week is a component of Eat Fresh RPS—an exciting initiative to dramatically increase the amount of fruits and vegetables consumed by students in Richmond Public Schools. With the support of the Richmond City Health District, Fit4Kids, and Richmond Public Schools’ School Nutrition Services we were able to launch 20 garden patch salad bars in Richmond Public Schools last year!
To encourage students to “taste the rainbow” and sample items from their new salad bars, we will sample a new item each day of Fruit and Veggie Week!
The tastings will be held from October 24th to 28th during school lunch hours.
