“The risk of obesity starts early in life. Over half of obese children become overweight by the age of 2, and approximately one in five children are overweight or obese by their 6th birthday.”

The White House Task Force on Childhood Obesity

Recent studies have shown that preschool children who are overweight are almost five times more likely to be overweight as young adults. Thus, it is critical to target childhood obesity prevention efforts at a very young age. Fit4Kids partners with the Chesterfield Coalition for Active Children (COACH) to offer trainings to child care centers in the Richmond region. The trainings inspire child care workers to use their influence to prevent obesity, and teach workers ways to incorporate more physical activity and healthy food choices into their center.
