At eight Martin’s stores in the region, two check-out aisles have been designated “Healthy Ideas” lanes and contain food items such as fresh fruit, nuts, nutrition bars, and flavored water.

Results from 1500 Martin’s customer surveys indicate the lanes were frequently used to avoid unhealthy impulse purchases and deter children from asking for junk food. Coalition members presented findings at a plenary session at Weight of the State in April 2013. To learn more, watch the video below from the Coalition’s presentation at Weight of the State.

Fit4Kids’ healthy checkout lanes were highlighted in a report from the Center for Science in the Public Interest. Click here for the full report!
