Are you a parent who is passionate about helping kids eat healthy and move more at school? If so, keep reading!

In March of 2019, Greater Richmond Fit4Kids and the Greater Richmond Coalition for Healthy Children will launch a parent advocacy group for families to share their thoughts on school food, recess, physical activity, and local school wellness policies.

Fit4Kids and our coalition partners believe that healthy and active children learn better at school, have greater self-esteem, and thrive. To reduce childhood obesity in the Richmond region, we are focused on the following policy initiatives:

-Improving the Nutritional Quality of School Breakfast and Lunch

-Ensuring elementary school students get 30 minutes of daily, physically-active recess at school.

-Strengthening leadership and engaging community members through a School Health Advisory Board (SHAB).

-Strengthening Safe Routes to School programming and partnerships.

This is an exciting opportunity for parents to lead policies efforts and create local change. If you have questions, or would like to learn more about the group, contact Justine Blincoe at or call (804) 754-6300.
