Are you a passionate educator who believes healthy kids are better learners? As a Fit4Kids Wellness Integration Specialist (WIS), you’ll partner with elementary schools in Petersburg to build lasting cultures of health and wellness — right inside the classroom. You’ll equip teachers with the tools, confidence, and inspiration to weave physical activity and nutrition into everyday lessons, while also driving meaningful, school-wide wellness initiatives.
This is a teaching position that follows the Petersburg school calendar. A valid Virginia teaching license is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Curate and develop lessons and activities that integrate physical movement and nutrition into core academic subjects
- Share resources with all elementary teachers through staff development sessions, handouts, websites, and classroom-ready materials
- Provide hands-on coaching and modeling so teachers feel confident incorporating wellness into their daily instruction
- Facilitate the creation and ongoing work of a School Wellness Council in partnership with school leadership, staff, and students
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to provide before- and after-school wellness opportunities for students
- Partner with the Wellness Council to plan and implement healthy changes for students, staff, and families
- Participate in after-school events that engage parents in supporting the program
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in elementary education, physical education, or a related field
- Valid Virginia teaching license and experience teaching
- Strong knowledge of health education and wellness topics, including nutrition and physical fitness
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with both adults and children
- Strong time management and creative thinking abilities
- Genuine enthusiasm and passion for helping students and educators develop healthy, active habits
- Ability to model a healthy lifestyle
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends
Preferred:
- Experience training or teaching adult learners

Based on experience, scale starting at $52,500.
