Game On, Girl!s across the region were so disappointed this year when we had to postpone our annual Summer Summit active day camp due to the threat of the coronavirus. Although we know that the threat has not completely gone away, most of us are now focused on how we can change our habits and typical ways of doing things to make them more pandemic friendly. So, in an effort to safely connect with our students during these difficult times, we are planning our first in-person event since March!
This Saturday on Halloween, GOG is going to host an outdoor event at Byrd Park from 11 AM-1 PM! We’re modeling it after our Summit and calling this active outdoor gathering our “Ghoulish Get Together!” We will play games, dance, go on a nature walk, have treat bags to take home, and more in an effort to get our bodies active and to enjoy the company of others in the safest way possible. During this event, we will practice sanitation, social distance guidelines, and mask use as some of our best tools to control the spread. If you know a middle or high school girl who would like to attend please register her at bit.ly/gameongirl by Friday, 10/30. Spots are limited for the first 25 girls who register so reserve yours ASAP!
WHO?: All middle and high school girls who live in the Greater Richmond region are invited to attend! Due to a necessity to maintain social distance guidelines, we will limit the number of participants to the first 25 girls who register.
WHAT?: A Halloween-themed gathering! Girls will be assigned to smaller teams with a coach who will guide them through stations where they will practice different ways to get active! This will include dancing, a nature walk, active games, and more.
WHERE?: Byrd Park Carillon Lawn- 600 S Arthur Ashe Blvd, Richmond, VA 23220. Parking will be found in the Dogwood Dell parking lot and Game On, Girl! Coaches will be available to escort girls and parents (who wish to stay) to our meeting spot. Unfortunately, transportation will not be provided.
WHEN?: October 31, 2020 | 11 AM – 1 PM
