In February, Elizabeth Scott Elementary School started a running club for students in grades 3-5, to help them prepare for, and get excited about the school’s 5k race in April. The running club is held three times a week before school, and students are encouraged to practice their pacing, build their endurance, and have fun! Each student’s mileage is recorded and they earn charms by reaching certain milestones, such as running the equivalent of a marathon (26.2 miles). The running club has about 65 regular participants, who average 2 to 4 miles every time they run, a combined total of nearly 2,000 miles during the last three months!
