About Fit4Kids

Greater Richmond Fit4Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving children’s health and wellness in the Richmond region.

We do this by offering innovative programs that promote physical activity and healthy eating in schools, community organizations, and beyond.

Our History

Fit4Kids was founded in 2010 with support from Sports Backers and the Robins Foundation, filling an essential need for a regional organization focused exclusively on children's physical activity and healthy eating for children. Today, we are focused on children’s overall health and wellness, which includes physical activity, healthy eating, and policy work. We are excited to continue expanding our reach each school year and encouraging healthy habits for thousands of local children. Our vision is to provide children with impactful, empowering programs that will inspire them to develop life-long healthy habits.

Making Healthy Fun

When healthy is fun, staying fit is child’s play. We’re taking kids back to a time when spending the day running, biking, jumping and dancing wasn’t called “exercise.” It was just playing. And oh, was it fun.

When healthy is fun, eating is an adventure. We’re getting our hands dirty in the garden and watching produce grow from seed to shoot to fruit. We’re experimenting with new foods that tickle our taste buds and energize our bodies.

When healthy is fun, making positive wellness choices comes naturally. At Fit4kids, we’re empowering youth to make healthy choices for themselves. We’re making healthy options accessible and we’re making healthy experiences equitable. Because that is the way childhood is supposed to be.
